ANTHONY F. VARCHETTO
PRESIDENT
SPECIALIZED OFF DUTY DIVISION
Anthony F. Varchetto is the President of Protos Security’s Specialized Off Duty Division. Anthony has over 22 years of high-level experience in law enforcement. In January of 2022, he retired from his role as Sergeant with the Chicago Police Department’s Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) task force to focus his efforts on continuing the growth of the business.
Over the course of his extensive law enforcement career – which included assignments to specialized units such as gang, tactical and narcotics as well as 15 years in the private sector – Anthony developed expertise in risk assessments, investigations and supply chain security. Anthony possesses security licenses and certifications throughout the United States and holds a bachelor’s degree in Public Safety Management from Calumet College of St. Joseph.
In January of 2024, Anthony was promoted to President of Protos’s new Specialized Off Duty Division, where he leads thousands of active and retired law enforcement professionals in Illinois, New York, California, Texas, Canada and the United Kingdom.
As President of Protos’s Specialized Off Duty Division, Anthony focuses on sales and marketing, managing key accounts and designing customized, targeted off duty services to meet customer needs. He believes in building trusted client relationships and communicates regularly with all clients to ensure that they’re consistently receiving the finest security services in the industry.
Anthony is a founding member of Bank the Blue, a nonprofit organization that provides mental health resources to law enforcement professionals throughout the Chicagoland area. He also serves on the board of directors for the Illinois Security Professionals Association.
Jeffrey T. Salvetti
Divisional Vice President
Specialized Off Duty Division
Jeffrey T. Salvetti is the Vice President of Protos Security’s Specialized Off Duty Division. Jeff was born and raised in Chicago and became a Chicago police officer in 2005. In January 2020, he retired from the Chicago Police Department after 15 years of service.
In January of 2024, Jeff was promoted to Divisional Vice President of Protos’s new Specialized Off Duty Division, where he leads thousands of active and retired law enforcement professionals in Illinois, New York, California, Texas, Canada and the United Kingdom. In his role as Divisional Vice President of Protos’s Specialized Off Duty Division, Jeff oversees all day to day operations for all Squad Security locations. He also leads the integration of newly acquired specialized brands with a focus on driving inter-company growth and expanding into new strategic markets and verticals.
Jeff is also a founding member of Bank the Blue, a nonprofit organization that provides mental health resources to law enforcement professionals throughout the Chicagoland area. He earned a bachelor’s degree from DePaul University in 2000 and holds security licenses and certifications throughout the United States.
John Valdez
Regional Vice President of Operations, Squad Security California Specialized Division, Protos Security
As Vice President of Operations at Squad Security CA, a Protos Security company, John Valdez leads the Specialized Division, driving operational excellence, strategic expansion, and industry innovation. With over 25 years of leadership experience in Fortune 500 companies and high-growth ventures, he brings a wealth of expertise to the role, ensuring Squad Security CA remains at the forefront of specialized security services.
Valdez's 13 years in the security sector have been marked by high-impact roles, starting in 2012 at Allied Universal as Vice President of the Southwest Region. He went on to hold key leadership positions such as Chief Development Officer at Elite Interactive and CEO of JEV Security Consultants. A respected authority in threat assessment and active shooter response, Valdez is a sought-after speaker at major security conferences and industry forums.
Beyond his corporate achievements, Valdez has served on multiple executive boards, notably as Chairman of the Board at SIMGAD Solar. His commitment to continuous learning is evident in his educational background—he holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Cal State San Bernardino and is currently pursuing an MBA in Business Management at Purdue University.
A California native, Valdez was raised in Barstow’s historic Tortilla Flats neighborhood. A devoted family man, he has been married to his high school sweetheart, Toni, for 31 years. Together, they are proud parents of two daughters, Isabelle and Eliana.
